Humility Brings Success Print E-mail
by Warren Adams

Most people seek for riches, honor and a good life. Most of them, including Christians, are looking and seeking in the wrong place and in the wrong way.

Success, to a Christian, should be according to God’s Word and in His will. God calls some to be a servant and others to make the money needed to fund the servant. Which one are you? You have to make the determination where God wants to use you and what He wants you to do with your life.

Proverbs 22:2 tells you that the rich and poor meet together: the Lord is the maker of them all. Then in verse four this instruction is given, “By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, and honor, and life”.

Asking God to give you a humble spirit and acknowledging He is in control of everything in your life, even the next breath you take, will lead you to the center of His will. To walk in His will and fulfill the works He wants from you is true success.

God honors faithfulness. He will bless you and your life with the things you need to do His work. The problem most people face is getting puffed up in their accomplishments and not giving God the glory. They think once they have achieved wealth or position they no longer need God in their life. Many have been reminded that not only can God provide He can also take away.

In your pursuit for the things of the world do not forget the most important ingredient for success, humility to and fear of God. Then as God blesses you, if He so desires, you will use the material things and the knowledge He provides to serve Him further and better. God does not want you to use riches just for your benefit. There are many verses in the Bible that admonish you not to forget the poor. The apostle John wrote, “But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him”?

Material things are not the only blessings of life. Peace, joy, contentment and knowing you are right with God and others are wonderful gifts. Wisdom is far better than gold or silver. It will guide you in the right path, to the right conclusion of life.

“Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time: casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you”. I Peter 5:6.
