Alpha Phi Omega Kuwait Alumni Association 153

On September 8, 2002 Bro. Vivo Vidal from Eta chapter called the attention of Bro. Rashid Mauna of Beta-Alpha chapter, to map out plans and encourage
Brothers and Sisters to come forward and enhance the guiding principles of Alpha Phi Omega which are LEADERSHIP , FRIENDSHIP , and SERVICE.



Nine (9) alumni members from different chapters gathered and had a meeting on October 4, 2002. Bros. Rodolfo A. Coronado and Carlos Abesamis from Alpha-Epsilon and Upsilon chapters announced it on Radio Pinoy, on the Arab Times, and on "The Filipino Channel" calling all APO members to join APOKAA.

On the first official and organizational held on October 10, 2002, the ALPHA PHI OMEGA in the State of Kuwait has been named APO KUWAIT ALUMNI ASSOCIATION (APOKAA). On this event, Bro. Bayani P. Valentino from Gamma-Eta chapter has been elected as its first President by the thirteen (13) alumni members who gathered on this affair.

A special meeting was held on October 24, 2002 at the Social Hall at the Philippine Embassy in Jabriya, thru courtesy of Bro. Tomara M. Ayo  of Alpha-Kappa chapters. With the support of Brothers and Sisters who worked hard for refining the draft, the Constitution and By-Laws of the APO KUWAIT AA had been ratified.

November 14, 2002, upon the completion of the plans and program and thru efforts of Bro. Roberto L. Paunan and Antonio L Arcibal from Xi and Alpha-Epsilon chapters, the first humanitarian service project has been successfully done at the Overseas Welfare Administration (OWWA) center.

From the time APOKAA has been established in Kuwait they have done quite a lot of community services both here in Kuwait and in the Philippines. These are some of the projects done by APOKAA from 2002 to 2007:

Year 2002 - 2003
1. March 2003 - donated three (3) boxes of new and used clothes for Mindanao evacuees.
2. April 12, 2003 offered community services to the distressed OFW's at the  Philippine Embassy.
3. April 25, 2003 offered voluntary services to the Filipino Community in anticipation of a full-scale evacuation during the war in Iraq.
4. July 11, 2003 participation in the information drive on the upcoming Absentee voting under R.A. 9189.
 

Year 2003 - 2004
1. April 24, 2004 - Kilos Kapatiran. Service for their Brothers at the Bureau of Correction Muntinlupa city.
2. On 2004, APOKAA donated 16 trophies to Philippine International School for the Sport fest.
3. Alay kay Bado service project - donated 15 boxes of new or used clothes, blankets, jackets, shoes, jogging pants, and toys for the flood and landslide victims in several towns of the northern part of the Philippines.

 

Year 2004 - 2005
1. June 3, 2004, APOKAA together with the Philippine Bowling Association donated Ph 50,443.00 ( fifty thousand and four hundred fourtythree pesos ) to OFW LOSARIO B. MAGSAYO past away due to cardiacarrest.
2. August 27, 2004 donated Ph 16,730.0 (sixteen thousand and seven hundred thirty pesos) to Gabaldon Medical Dental Service Project of APO Sorority Council.
3. July 3, 2005 donated Ph 20.000.00 ( twenty thousand pesos ) to Sis. Rowena Doma for her son.
4. Nov. 27, 2005 gave financial support to Bro.Manny Tan, Two Brods. in Sigma chapter and Sis. Luvie with the amount of Ph 9,868.00 ( nine thousand and eigth hundred  sixty eigth pesos )
5. Dec. 15, 2005 MAAGANG PAMASKO alay sa mga stranded OFW's. Distribute gifts to each stranded OFW's and serve them dinner.

Year 2005 - 2006 - 2007
1. May 3, 2005 TULOY ARAL PROJECT for five (5) childrens - Aimed to subsidize the tuition fee and other expenses.
2. Donated 300 pcs. of blankets to the distressed OFW's at the Philippine Embassy.
3. Nov.14, 2005 financial support to MICHELLE FE SANTIAGO ($ 300.00)
4. Dec. 14, 2006 donated two (2) sewing machines and 6 bondales of cloths and materials.
5. Jan. 6, 2007 - ADOPT A HOMETOWN SCHOOL PROJECT at Saint Joseph Elem. School , Penaranda , Nueva Ecija ( APOKAA 153 AND FILBACK )
6. Feb.16,2007 turned over tools, bondales of cloths to polo in support for the on-going dress making and sewing training for distressed OFW's
7. March 30,2007 APOKAA 153 and PWC drivers' association donated 276 pcs. of MRE food.
8.April 22, 2007 donated Ph. 6,624.25 (six thousand six hunred twentyfour and twentyfive pesos ) to APO PANDACAN

APOKAA received an award as the most Outstanding Alumni Association during the 2nd APO ARMEE Conference. And on June 12 , 2006 it was recognized by the Philippine Embassy for Outstanding Organization in Kuwait.
